About the seminar
The Czech-Japan Seminars on Data Analysis and Decision Making under Uncertainty were initiated by two meetings held in Ishikawa and Čeladná in 1999. Since then, the seminar series has brought together researchers from the Czech Republic, Japan, and other countries, creating a long-term platform for scientific exchange and research cooperation.
The 2026 edition will be hosted by the University of Hradec Králové and will provide space for discussions on both theoretical and applied aspects of information science, operations research, management science, stochastic analysis, fuzzy analysis, mathematical programming, discrete optimization, constraint programming, planning, decision making, artificial intelligence, optimization, and related areas.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
- Data analysis and statistical modelling
- Decision making under uncertainty
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Fuzzy systems and soft computing
- Operations research and optimization
- Knowledge representation and intelligent systems
- Applications in science, engineering, economics, and management

Call for abstracts
Participants are invited to submit abstracts related to data analysis, decision making under uncertainty, artificial intelligence, optimization, soft computing, and related areas. Submission instructions you can find here.
Registration
Registration is now handled through a joint registration form for the Czech-Japan Seminar 2026 and the parallel VŘSR – Velké říjnové soft-rokování event. Participants who have already registered for CJS 2026 using the previous form have been automatically included in the joint participant list and do not need to register again.
New participants should use the joint form to provide their registration details. Additional information on fees, accommodation options, and practical arrangements will be updated on this website.

Nový Jičín is located in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Public-transport connections are available from Prague, Ostrava and other major Czech cities, usually by a combination of long-distance rail and a regional train or bus. Information for international participants
Useful practical notes:
- The Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna (CZK); card payments are common, but a small cash reserve may be useful.
- Public transport tickets can usually be purchased online, in mobile apps, at ticket machines or at sales points.
- November weather can be cool and changeable; warm layers and a rainproof jacket are recommended.
- Emergency number in the Czech Republic and the EU: 112.

- Nový Jičín is a historic Moravian-Silesian town near the Beskid foothills.
